Site Editor quickstart (inc ecommerce)

Book page

There are many different options and settings within the site. Much more documentation and help can be found online in the Drupal Site Guide so this guide will cover the settings that are specific to this website.

Background

Every single bit of functionality - from managing the menus, to displaying the shopping cart, calculating shipping costs, resizing images, editing pages etc, is done by one or more modules. A complex site, such as an ecommerce store like this, contails many different modules. Each has its own settings page, and this can be overwhelming when trying to find just where to change things.

Hopefully we can ignore most of the advanced options, and just direct you to the important parts.

Quick Reference

To make a change to a page

Log in as an editor or administrator, view the page, and an 'edit' button will appear.

To create a new page

Visit Create Content > Page . Be sure to add the page to the menu so it can be found. New pages do not automatically become part of the sitemap until then.
For pages you wish to link or refer to from other places, it's a good idea to also give them a readable, structured path in the "URL Alias" field. Use lower-case, no special characters, and "-" for spaces.

To create a new product

Visit Create Content > Product > Tangible

To Manage Content

A list of all pages can be found at Administer > Content Management > Content . This is usually the quickest way to navigate and see the site at once. The Sitemap is also helpful. An short list of products is in Administer > E-Commerce > Products and a detailed summary is also in Administer > E-Commerce > Audit

E-Commerce. The Shop

To mark an order as Shipped

Press 'Shipping Notify' on the order. This will change the status of the order, and also send a confirmation message to the customer.
